I already got my present on June 1st :)

p.s. I know the numbers 666 to some people is a bad omen or sign of the devil/beast but when it’s on your birthday it’s kinda cool.

June 1st : The Delivery

I just came back from the hospital with our son in my arms :D , Ali is 8 lbs and 14 oz (about 4 kg) and he's 21 inches tall (53.3cm) , after 3 miscarriages and losing hope that I'll never see a child of my own finally now i could say i have a beautiful son! Thank you God for giving me this great gift.

So when my water broke at 4:30 am just after morning prayer we rushed to the hospital. At 5:30 am i got admitted and prepared in the delivery room, my mom and my DH were nervous and i was shaking all over i couldn't believe it was happening for real this time no false labor. My doctor asked me if i was having any contractions and i wasn't even though i was dilated 1.5 cm so we waited. When my contractions started i thought they would give me the epidural straight away but that wasn't the case, the nurse told me i had to wait until i was dilated 3 cm only then they'll give me the epidural, i endured the waves of massive pain that hit me, i screamed i cried and i felt like passing out.

After 6 hours of screaming i was dilated to 3 cm and the doctor okayed the epidural, oh my god! it felt great! no pain at all they also had me on Pitocin to speed up my contractions. My friends Shahara and Anna Marie came by i was happy mom was here she'll be my coach during my delivery and it's the first time she will witness a real actual birth. Time flew and my dilation was slowly progressing when it was 10:30 pm i was 9.5 cm dilated and i felt every contraction but no pain thank god only pressure.

At 11:10 pm i was fully dilated i started pushing with the help of my mom and the nurse, my DH was directing the whole thing with his camcorder. I admit watching a delivery on T.V is totally different when experiencing the real thing, pushing every time a contraction started was soooo exhausted and in between contraction my DH placed the oxygen mask on me i felt like passing out and couldn't push anymore. At the end mom had to stepped away and let the doctor and 2 nurses to finish their job, it was one last final push and there he was Ali came out screaming :D when they placed him in my arms we all cried especially mom praying and praising God almighty, words fail me as i can't exactly describe that precious moment. 17 hours of labor it was worth every second, minute and pain i would do it again.

My Miracle baby

So emotional

Ever since i entered my 8th month and I've been feeling a bit depressed, i don't know why exactly maybe because i could barely walk due to back pains, or maybe because i feel so big always out of breath and tired. I haven't had a decent nights sleep my knees and legs cramp so bad to the point of crying, poor sweet husband he hasn't been sleeping either trying his best to massage my pain away, it does help tremendously. My friend told me it's normal to feel like that at the last 2 months i just have to be patient and bare with it, easily said then done, thankfully mom is coming soon now that's a happy thought!

After much thought my husband and i made a big decision this past 2 weeks we decided to buy a house! currently we're living in an apartment and with a baby on the way it's too small, having our own house would be just great plus no more rent to pay, at least we could finally install a satellite dish and watch KTV and other Arab channels hehehe......we are so excited and looking forward toward going house hunting :)

FIRST Kuwaiti Woman Candidate Breaks Taboo

Kuwait City, 23 March (AKI) - The first woman ever to stand in elections in Kuwait has started her campaign by bringing male and female voters together for the first time in more than four decades. Hundreds of men and women attended the landmark event in a huge tent where they listened to Jenan Bushehri who is vying to win a seat on the Kuwait City municipal council. It was the first time women have attended an election gathering in Kuwait since polls were held in 1962, and the first campaign event ever to be addressed by a woman. Men and women were however made to sit slightly apart from each other.

"I promise I will not disappoint you if you elect me," said Bushehri, who is contesting the April 4 by-election for a council seat in the district of Salmiya, some 15 kilometres southeast of Kuwait City. The seat fell vacant after the council chairman was appointed minister in the new Kuwaiti cabinet in February.

Wearing the traditional Muslim headscarf, Bushehri, 33, called on the audience to fight sectarianism and tribalism and pledged to combat red tape and corruption, allegedly rampant in the civic body.

Bushehri, who is married with two daughters, holds a masters in chemical engineering and is working on her doctorate. She heads the food examination department at the municipality.

Women in Kuwait have long held senior positions in the oil and education sectors, as well as in the diplomatic corps, but were only granted full political rights in a historic vote in parliament in May 2005. The government subsequently appointed two women members in the municipal council and named the first woman minister.

The first national elections in which female Kuwaitis will be voting and running for office will be in 2007.

Source.

Good news - Breastfeeding!

I was kinda sad when I've heard i couldn't breastfeed because I'm taking an anti epileptic drug called Lamictal, as a first time soon to be mom i wanted to experience everything with my baby so i took it upon myself to google the internet and i came across a helpful site called Epliepsy Foundation, this is the part that caught my eye:

I am expecting a baby in six weeks. I am on Lamictal for seizures (600 mg/day currently). Can I breastfeed this baby or will the Lamictal secreted in the breast milk harm him? I keep getting conflicting answers (or no answer at all) from various doctors.

You can breastfeed. The Lamictal will pass into the milk, but at small amounts. As you have taken Lamictal during pregnancy, the baby has already been exposed to this drug. From my own personal experience, a patient of mine on Lamictal considered breastfeeding – we were able to get both blood levels and milk levels from the mother every two hours for one day and noted the amount of Lamictal in milk was much less than in the blood. We do not have all the answers of effects of the newer agents, but given the child's exposure during pregnancy at higher levels, we, as epileptologists do not prohibit breastfeeding.
Source: Ask the Expert: Family Planning & Pregnancy.

I confirmed this with my neurologist and he said it's okay to breastfeed! YAY :D 72 days left until my due date!

V For Vendetta

Just came back from watching V For Vendetta and i must say the political statement was LOUD and CLEAR! now i know why they said on the news it was controversial, I'm sure some people with "political preferences" would hate this movie but you can't hide away from the God's honest truth that governments rule people through pure fear. Another thing i wanted to clear up is that this movie is NOT anti American on the contrary it gives you a clear picture on how governments make the wrong decisions and the outcome could be devastating. That being said V For Vendetta is beyond great and very entertaining, it makes you think about certain issues because it had some truth of what's happening today in this world. The acting was superb and the story was excellent, basic theme was fighting injustice and allowing the people to freely express their freedom in it's many forms. At the end of the movie the audience cheered, overall i enjoyed it and would see it again, highly recommended!

I could tell this season is going to be very interesting and action packed, can't wait for next Sunday! too bad this is the last and final season i love this show.

Ultracrap!

Ultraviolet sucked BIGTIME a major disappointment! i thought this movie was like Aeon Flux but i was wrong it didn't come close and wasn't even worth the hype it got! There was no story, no dialogue actually no point to the movie at all and it kept on dragging and dragging, some people started leaving half way through it. The acting was terrible and the scenes were almost cartoonish. Overall worst movie i have ever seen, what a waste of time and money!

</a>

The good news my mom is coming next month yeah it's her turn now and I'm glad she'll be here for the delivery, what would i do without mom's help? being this is our first child I'm so clueless that sometimes i fear i might do something wrong, i guess it's natural feeling this way since we are first time parents. I've been using the glucose meter to test my blood sugar level and so far my levels are good okay i admit i cheated only once i couldn't resist that darn chocolate ice cream :P

Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion

Madea's Family Reunion was the best comedy, drama squel! the first part Diary of a Mad Black Woman was awesome and this sequel was just great! definitely a must see! Honestly people couldn't stop laughing, what i loved about this movie is it wasn't all just comedy there was drama, plenty of romance that would make you envious you'll not only laugh your socks off but cry, cheer and even curse at some point, in other words it'll get all your emotions out which is exactly why this movie is a success. Overall a beautiful movie and Tyler Perry is just WOW! very talented writer and director.

Last Saturday i did a gestational diabetes test, i got a call from my doctor today and the bad news was my blood sugar was 194 which was very high (normal range 60 to 120 mg/dl). So tomorrow my DH and i are going to the hospital to attend a 3 hours nutrition class where they'll inform us what to eat and how to test our blood sugar using the glucose meter and so on...goodbye chocolate ice cream, donuts, funnel cake, gummy bears, any chocolate bar and hello fruits and vegetables.

Snowstorm and some

Haven't posted for a while I've been busy with dad it's sad that he's leaving in less then 2 weeks time flies by so quickly. I visited my doctor yesterday and the baby is doing great in fact she said he's very active yeah tell me about it Ali has been a naughty baby lately he loves practicing his karate kicks at night and that's one of the reasons why i can't sleep ;) to be honest i can't wait to hold my son in me arms :) (my son, that's sounds so wonderful)

Finally we have a snowstorm now this feels like winter and poor dad he's sick with the cold i think because he's not use to it, last time he saw snow was like 20 years ago! we will definitely take some picture tomorrow morning. Speaking of pics since this is the first time dad sees me pregnant he promised mom to take daily pictures of me and emailed to her, oh god i never realized how big my tummy was LOL and still i have 3 months to go! I'm finding it very hard to walk sometimes my right hip is killing me due to the weight but i guess that's normal for a pregnant woman.

Nanny McPhee

If you loved Marry Poppins then you'll love Nanny McPhee! True it's different but kids would enjoy watching it, the colors and wardrobe were amazing and of course Emma Thompson acting is great how can you not love her? :)

The movie was filled with magic, humorous scenes and loads of fun it pulls you back to your childhood. The story was very touchy and i loved the whole fairy tale combination (Cinderella, Lemony Snicket, evil step mother, happy ending..etc) Overall an excellent delightful family movie :)

Underworld: Evolution

Just saw Underworld and i loved it! i think it's better the the first one, the only reason i say this because I'm so into the world of Vampires/Werewolves :D. I was VERY pleased to see the relationship developed between Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and Micheal Corvin ( Scott Speedman) and OH MY GOD! the love scene between them was HOT HOT HOT!

The best thing about this movie there is no dragging on on the contrary the story continues right were we were left off, i loved the way how they showed the previous parts of the first movie to the audience as a quick reminder.

Visiting Aunt Tillie

We visited my DH's great aunt it was her 91st birthday and we got her a nice Victorian porcelain doll for her collection as a present. Visiting aunt Tiller is one of my most enjoyable moments because i love listening to her endless stories, she was a sargent in the WACS (Women's Auxiliary Core) during WWII, during the invasion of D-Day she told us she was in the war room and every detail she shared was a treasure for me to pass it on someday to my kids (i love family history), hearing stories like this from people that witness the events is way better then watching a movie. Aunt Tillie recalled the attack on Pearl Harbor how she couldn't contact her brother uncle Lou for 2 weeks, poor uncle Lou he was supposed to be released from the army the next day but the attack happened a day earlier and he had to stay of course. Aunt Florence, her sister stopped by and we continued our conversations in the kitchen eating delicious crumb cake and drinking coffee, well i had a glass of milk indeed what en enjoyable day :)

P2P Question

Does anyone know which is the best peer-to-peer program out there? I've been using Kazaa for a while but lately a few problems occurred and I'm trying to look for something else to download shared files. I've heard about others such as :
Lime Wire.
Ares.
Morpheus.
Grouper.
BearShare.
Edonkey.
Shareaza.
IMESH.

Any recommendations?
